The representative of the Afghan Foreign Ministry, Abdul Kahar Balkhi, reacted to the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about possible plans to remove the radical Taliban movement from the official list of terrorists (banned in Russia). This is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Balkhi, the Afghan side welcomes the statement of the Russian leader. "Since the war has come to an end, the countries of the world should also make positive changes in their relations and approach to Afghanistan," he said. According to him, the current Afghan authorities count on mutual positive relations with the international community.
At the plenary session of the XVIII annual meeting of the Valdai Club, Vladimir Putin said that Russia is considering plans to remove the Taliban from the official list of terrorists. However, he stressed, it is recognized as such at the UN level. The Russian leader added that the decision will depend on the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
On October 20, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, held a meeting with a delegation of the Taliban in Moscow. According to its results, the Kremlin announced that it would allocate humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
