In Russia, from April, paid Internet will be available on short flights. The first airline to offer this service to passengers is Aeroflot. About it on Tuesday, March 2, write "Izvestia".
As the press service of Aeroflot told the publication, the airline intends to equip 16 of its medium-haul Airbus A320 aircraft with Internet access. At the same time, the carrier does not plan to equip all the aircraft currently available in the fleet with access to the Network. New aircraft from the Airbus A320peo and A350 family will be received by Aeroflot with already equipped systems for access to the network. At the same time, the press service added, the planes of the airlines "Russia" and "Victory" are not yet planned to be equipped with the Internet.
A source in Aeroflot told the publication that the Russian satellite communications operator and system integrator in the field of space technologies "Stack.com"will supply the equipment for Internet access and the provider of communication services.
Utair airlines and Ural Airlines are also working on launching the Internet on board, their representatives told the publication. Oleg Semenov, President of the Utair aircraft segment, explained that the service is "not conceptually planned" to be included in the ticket price, but passengers will have the opportunity to choose this additional service if they wish. A representative of S7 Airlines told the publication that in the near future, the carrier does not plan to introduce a paid Internet service on board.
Earlier, Izvestia, citing the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI), reported that Russian trains and planes plan to provide high-speed Internet. The first experimental section of the new communication system can be deployed by 2022. The plans include the creation of a fundamentally new wireless communication system that will be able to provide cars, planes and trains with broadband Internet.
